Just 2.5 hours from Perth lies the Geographe region which is located on the south west coast near Bunbury with the Indian Ocean forming its western boundary. As the region heads inland it crosses into the beautiful undulating Ferguson Valley with altitudes of up to 400 metres above sea level and views of the ocean. On these gentle slopes that benefit from the cool sea breeze off the Indian Ocean grow the major planted grape varieties, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, along with the less common varieties Fiano and Tempranillo.
The region is characterised by diverse microclimates due to the elevated rolling hills, cool sheltered valleys, and mild ocean breezes off Geographe Bay. The soil throughout the district consists of sandy coastal to rich loams enabling the winemakers to produce high-quality, flavourful wines that are well-balanced and expressive of the region’s terroir.
