Located 3.5 hours south – east of Perth lies the Manjimup region, whose boundary runs alongside the beautiful meandering and picturesque Blackwood River. Over 80% of this region is dedicated to forests and national parks that are maintained in their original pristine condition. More recently the production of black truffles has gained worldwide attention with Manjimup now being one of the largest producers of black truffles in the world. The first vineyards were planted in 1987 and there are now 15 wine producers with the majority being family owned and operated.

The Manjimup region has a cool continental climate, influenced by the Indian and Southern oceans. It is a region that lies at 300 metres above sea level and a landscape that is dominated by tall, majestic Karri trees that thrive in deep gravely loam soils. The ideal varieties are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. The region is also developing a reputation for quality bottle fermented sparkling wines made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
